In one line: You cannot see the result of a lifting or anti-ageing procedure in advance. You can verify its conditions in advance. What to verify: who you will speak English with, the device and its generation, genuine consumables, the shot count, who performs the procedure, the side-effect explanation, qualifications, aftercare, and whether the clinic is registered to treat foreign patients.

Gangnam and Sinnonhyeon give you many options. The same procedure name at two of them can be two different procedures. On K-Beauty Station, five of the twelve Gangnam skin clinics put the shot count in the listing name: “Ultherapy Prime 300 shots”, “Thermag FLX 600 shots”, “OligioX 300S”. The other seven leave it out, as CELLIN CLINIC GANGNAM does with Shurink (₩99,000), ONDA (₩165,000) and Potenza (₩207,900). Neither style is a fault. It means the specification is settled in the consultation room rather than on the price list. That is where the questions below belong. This article does not recommend any specific clinic. Why verify things at the consultation?

You cannot see the result of a procedure in advance. But you can verify every condition of the procedure in advance. What device is used, whether the consumables are genuine, how many shots are delivered, who performs it — all of these you can get answered before the procedure. Many of the answers are numbers displayed on the device screen.

None of that is on the price list. The twelve Gangnam skin clinics on K-Beauty Station publish 116 listings between them. A listing gives you a procedure or device name and, in 32 cases, a quantity. Three name the tip or cartridge. None names the person who will perform the procedure. Check the items below first, then compare prices.

Here is what each of the twelve puts on the page, and what each one leaves for the room.

A “No” is not a fault; it means that answer is settled in the consultation room, where the seven questions belong.

Before the seven: who will you speak English with — the doctor, a coordinator or an app?

Ask this before anything else. The answer changes how you use the rest of this list. A bilingual doctor lets you negotiate the plan in the room. An English coordinator relays the doctor, so bring your questions and history written down, and ask the coordinator to repeat the doctor’s exact words on risks. A translation app at the desk is enough for booking and paying, but not for the seven items below. The store pages are no help here. On the English pages all twelve Gangnam clinics offer the same thing, a messenger button, so the answer comes from asking. ① Who actually performs the procedure?

Lifting and anti-ageing device procedures are medical procedures. The person who consults with you is not always the person who holds the handpiece. None of the 116 listings at the twelve Gangnam clinics names a practitioner, so this one cannot be settled before you arrive. Ask who will be doing it, and ask again on the day.

② Do they state the exact device name and generation?

Phrases like “HIFU lifting” or “RF treatment” alone do not tell you what you are getting.

• If it is a HIFU procedure → the exact device name (is it Ultherapy, or another HIFU device?)
• If it is an RF procedure → the device name and generation (Thermage FLX or CPT, etc.)

Some listings already answer this. GU Clinic Gangnam Branch (Seocho-gu, 4.9 from 10,000+ Google reviews) publishes eight products from ₩29,000 to ₩1,990,000. Three of them carry device, generation and quantity in one line: “Thermag FLX 600 shots” at ₩1,990,000 (the listing’s own spelling of Thermage FLX), “Ultherapy Prime 300 shots” at ₩1,590,000 and “Shurink Universe 600 Shots” at ₩239,000. A listing that reads “Shurink” and a price has left the generation for the consultation. That is fine, as long as you ask.

③ Do they open the cartridge or tip in front of you?

Cartridges (HIFU) and tips (RF) are single-use consumables and the core of the procedure’s cost. That is why questions about genuine products come up repeatedly. Verification is simple. Watch whether the sealed packaging is opened in front of you right before the procedure. Asking for this is normal.

Only three of the 116 Gangnam listings name the consumable at all. They are “Filorga 135 + Potenza Pumping Tip” (GU Clinic Gangnam Branch, ₩300,000), “POTENZA(RF TIP)” (Dr. Evers Gangnam branch, ₩99,000) and “Density Alpha tip 300 shots + Ai 3D Analysis Diagnosis” (SECRET CLINIC, ₩900,000). For the other 113 the consumable is a consultation question, not a page you can read in advance.

④ Are the shot count and treatment areas specified — and what is the total?

When a genuine consumable is mounted on the device, the available shot count appears on the screen and is deducted with each pulse delivered. Ask the clinic to show you that number on the screen before and after the procedure. Then you can verify:

• How many shots in total, and on which areas
• How many shots were actually used after the procedure

The count is what moves the price. Dr. Evers Gangnam branch lists Ultherapy Prime at 100 shots for ₩268,000. At 300 shots the same device is ₩1,000,000 at SECRET CLINIC (bundled with an AI 3D analysis), ₩1,089,000 at Reverse clinic Gangnam and ₩1,590,000 at GU Clinic Gangnam Branch. More shots are not automatically better. What matters is that they are distributed appropriately for each area. Korean clinics price by unit, so the listed price is a starting quantity. Ask for the total for the recommended quantity, in writing, before treatment.

⑤ Do they explain side effects and recovery time first?

A good consultation talks about limits and precautions before benefits. Watch whether they explain the temporary reactions: pain, redness, swelling, a sensation of heat. They should also cover the rarely reported pigmentation and burns, and say that effects are gradual and vary widely between individuals.

In particular, the following must be disclosed in advance:

• Pregnancy, certain medical conditions
• Metal implants or medical electronic devices in the body (pacemakers, etc. — especially for RF procedures)
• Medications you are taking

⑥ If they advertise ‘stem cells / exosomes,’ check their qualifications

“Stem cell anti-ageing” is a phrase used to mean two different things.

• Regenerative treatment using cells: this sits under its own statute, the 첨단재생의료 및 첨단바이오의약품 안전 및 지원에 관한 법률 (short name 첨단재생바이오법), administered by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.
• Use of culture media or exosome ingredients: the “stem cell care” commonly marketed is usually this.

The listing will not tell you which one you are buying. Of the 533 listings on K-Beauty Station, five name a stem-cell or exosome ingredient: NovaStem at CELLIN CLINIC GANGNAM (₩770,000), Exosome 5cc at DIORE CLINIC (₩233,100), a bundle including Exosome ASCE+ at GD Clinic (₩619,000), Hemapure Stem Cell at ZERO CLINIC (₩690,000) and Stem Cell at Forena Clinic (₩990,000). In every case the name is the whole of what the page says about the material. Do not judge by the word “stem cell” alone. Ask exactly what the procedure uses, and what qualification the institution holds to use it. Ask for the answer in writing.

⑦ What happens if something goes wrong?

• When and how to contact the clinic if you have an adverse reaction after the procedure — get a messenger, not only a phone number
• Whether there is a schedule for follow-up visits and monitoring
• Whether you can consult again with the practitioner who performed the procedure

Every store page on K-Beauty Station carries the same line on booking and paying. You agree a date through the messenger channel, payment is made on site after the visit, and a deposit is announced in advance if there is one. The after-care contact is not on the page. Ask for it in the same messenger thread you booked in, before you leave the building. Then you have somewhere to write from your hotel at 22:00.

One more check: is the clinic registered to treat foreign patients?

Not one of the seven, but worth a minute before you book. Clinics that treat foreign patients as a business are registered with the Korean government, and the list is public. Registration means the clinic operates a foreign-patient programme. It is not a quality ranking, and many good clinics see visitors without it. Warning signs to walk away from

How to use this at a Gangnam clinic

Send the clinic what it needs before you fly: concern, photos, medications, history, reactions. Then the consultation starts from your case rather than from a menu — what to send before a consultation. Leave time for the questions above. A first consultation that covers device, quantity and risks is not a ten-minute stop before dinner. The twelve Gangnam clinics on K-Beauty Station publish day-by-day hours and nothing finer. They close between 19:00 and 21:00 on most weekdays and between 16:00 and 19:00 on Saturdays, and seven of the twelve are closed on public holidays. No store page states a cut-off for registration, so ask in the messenger what the last consultation slot of the day is. Decide whether to book or walk in: walk in or book?. The bottom line

The price list stops at a device or procedure name. For 113 of the 116 Gangnam listings it does not say which consumable goes on the device, and none of the 116 names the person who will perform the procedure. Those answers exist only in the consultation room. Ask the seven questions there, and write the answers down before you leave.

Ask about those rather than inferring them from the price.

Who will I actually speak English with at a Gangnam clinic?
